Description: Job Description: Highly-motivated; likes challenge; collaborative; committed to delivering high quality work, Position Overview: The Engineer will work within the Geotechnical group within the company's Transmission & Distribution Organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for Essential tasks and duties including: Attending Pre-Engineering Jobwalks, taking notes and providing updates to the team in regards to the scope of work. Act as the project expert in the environmental field during project internal meeting and job walks. Provide support by preparing environmental field sampling workplans and environmental characterization for construction purposes reports. Complete field soil sampling using hand auger, concrete sampling using rotary drill, collect water and asphalt samples. Environmental analytical result review from laboratory to form recommendations. Environmental report preparation with recommendations and figures. Construction support during handling and disposal of soil, concrete and asphalt as necessary. Environmental sampling and QA/QC protocols for company-wide facility compliance, which include substation retirement sites; Provide waste characterization support for disposal of mud rotary drill cuttings; Provide review comments of the company Environmental Field manuals and Laboratory QA/QC; Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements: Position Requirements Must have a minimum of 5 years of environmental engineering experience. Current 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER and 8-hr Refresher Training Possess experience in environmental field sampling, sample preservation, chain of custody completion, site assessments for property transfers, work plan preparation, hazardous waste characterization, sampling and laboratory QA/QC, environmental and Polychlorinated Biphenyl regulations. Must be willing to travel to site locations throughout company territory with personal and/or company vehicle. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks. Must possess ability to plan, organize, coordinate, engineer, and schedule multiple tasks and adjust to a variety of changing priorities or projects Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills Demonstrate experience working in the field of geotechnical engineering and geology including site investigation, sampling, field testing, soil/rock classification, laboratory testing analyses and development of conclusion and recommendations, report preparation, document review, construction monitoring, and post construction observations. Must demonstrate ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices. Must demonstrate proficiency with software tools Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Project. Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering and or Geology. Preferred Qualifications Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) in the State of California Masters Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, and/or Geotechnical Engineering ()
