Description: Position Title Inspection Engineer Job Description This individual will provide technical support to the Process, Maintenance and Technical Team in the analysis of fixed equipment (including piping) to improve overall refinery safety and reliability. Primary Functions KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Perform technical analysis for review and closure of inspection recommendations and equipment strategy tasks Perform simple, statistical or other advanced evaluations of thickness data to determine corrosion rates and remaining life. Provide technical support for development and major updates to equipment strategies Develop inspection plans, evaluate inspection results and make recommendations for repairs and next inspections Provide technical oversight for the inspection of fixed equipment, piping, and structural items Apply, coordinate, or oversee the application of NDE for fixed equipment for routine activities and turnarounds In depth knowledge of inspection codes and local regulatory requirements associated with equipment integrity Routine duties include: gathering equipment data and information in the field, performing visual inspections at heights, recording data and information to assure equipment histories are current, analyzing inspection findings, developing recommendations, and preparing inspection reports. The inspection engineer will perform calculations (use of statistical methods) using corrosion data to determine inspection schedules, and equipment/piping remaining life. Job Requirements EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: BS: Required MAJOR (S): Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: A minimum of 3 years of refinery experience in one or more of the following areas : maintenance, operations, technical, industrial equipment inspector, ASNT Level II in PT/MT/UT, ASNT Level II in RTI, etc. SPECIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of NDT preferred with ASNT Level II in PT/MT/UT and one or more of the following certifications (by examination): API 510, API 570, API 653, NBIC, AWS-CWI ()
