**Danaher Company Description** Since 1960, Ormco has been developing, manufacturing, and marketing a broad line of orthodontic appliances and related products for sale in the U.S. and abroad. Ormco provides orthodontists with brackets, wires, adhesives, and ancillary supplies used through the course of treatment. Ormco believes the direct contact of its sales force with orthodontists facilitates the identification and verification of market trends and new product opportunities. Ormco works closely with orthodontists to improve existing products and develop new products primarily through its Champion programs in which selected orthodontists assist Ormco in designing, developing and ultimately educating users on new product and technique innovations. **Description** The ideal candidate will possess well rounded skills in working with tool design & fabrication with an emphasis in tooling applications such as cnc programming, electrode design, and high performance machining. The candidate will be responsible for working closely with other engineers, tool makers, and production associates to manage and control the design, fabrication, and repair of Ormco's tooling assets both internally and at outside vendors.* **PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Design electrodes for tooling components utilizing Solidworks and/or Powershape/Delcam Electrode software. * Create CNC programs utilizing CAM software (Esprit and PowerMILL). * Organize and control CAD related to mold designs, electrode models, cnc and inspection programs. * Develop tooling applications (CNC Milling, Sinker EDM, Wire EDM, etc) for implementation into Toolroom and implement them by training toolmakers. * Identify critical to quality tooling areas; program and operate the CMM for inspection. * Manage and evaluate necessary changes to mold designs to improve part quality and yield on new and existing molds. * Work directly with both external and internal tool shops on new tool fabrication and/or repair/replacement. * Assist Molding Technicians and Tool Makers in troubleshooting the mold and/or process problems that adversely affect quality, consistency, or productivity. * Contribute to design and process changes in support of continuous improvement and/or Lean practices. * Support Product Development Engineering with design for manufacturability on new concepts/prototypes, new products, and major design changes. * Provide technical input for capital appropriation requests. * Regular reporting of progress to the engineering team, both verbally and through written reports. * Provide direction, training, and coaching for tool makers. * Reverse engineer mold components, design electrodes, and create documentation in support of the repair or modifications of existing tooling. * Perform other duties as assigned. *CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:* * Strong analytical and mathematical skills * Experience with lean concepts/tools * Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with many levels and types of people * Leadership capability * Problem solving and solid business decision making skills * Planning and organizational ability * Ability to think critically and in tactical and strategic dimensions simultaneously * Lack of ego; team-first mentality * Unquestionably high ethical standards and attention to reputational and compliance risks * Ability to prioritize tasks in real time and exercise judgment in high-paced, high-stakes environment* **SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:* * *None **Qualification** *EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience plus 10 years' experience in injection mold design and fabrication; with experience in high-volume medical or dental device manufacturing a plus. * Minimum 10 years' experience with computer-Aided Engineering / Design / Drafting, proficiency with SolidWorks required. * Minimum 10 years' experience with CAM programming of 3/4/5-axis access milling * Fundamental understanding of injection molding and experience working with molds for small, high precision parts. * Ability to research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical equipment. * Ability to apply Lean techniques to streamline and improve all manufacturing processes in support of part production and quality manufacturing goals. * A team player that can work well under constrained deadlines and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel. * Hands on experience with products that require welding, machining, fabrication and assembly. * Follows directions well and is a self-starter in identifying what is critical to the success of the project. * Must possess excellent technical judgment and able to set logical action plans for process trouble shooting and risk mitigation. * Must possess knowledge and be able to apply GMP's and FDA 21 CFR Part 820 guidelines. * **LANUGUAGE SKILLS:* * Excellent communications skills, both written and oral are required. Ability to speak, and read a foreign language is a plus, English/Spanish Bilingual preferred * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and operating procedures. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization is required. * **COMPUTER SKILLS:* * *To perform this job successfully, an individual should havecomplete knowledge and practical use of Microsoft office applications. * /Competent with use of personal computers and related software is desirable, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project is required./ * /Must possess excellent Communication (Technical, Oral, Written)./ * /Must possess excellent technical judgment and able to set logical action plan and technical problem resolution./ *Math Ability:* * Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate rates, ration and percent to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to discern trends, and analyze operational and financial reports. *Reasoning Ability*: * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
